Issuance

LEI data processing and publication

When a legal entity applies for an LEI, they are required to provide a variety of information, including their legal name, address, and the names of their ultimate parents and subsidiaries. This information is collected by the Local Operating Unit (LOU), which is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the data and issuing the LEI code.

Once an LEI is issued, the LOU is responsible for maintaining and updating the data associated with the LEI on an ongoing basis. This includes ensuring that the information provided by the legal entity is accurate and up-to-date and making sure that any changes to the entity’s information are reflected in the LEI data.

In addition to maintaining and updating the LEI data, LOUs also have the responsibility to publish the data on public data platforms such as Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF). The GLEIF ensures that LEI data is easily accessible to regulators, banks, and other financial institutions, as well as to the general public.

The data in the public platform are searchable, download-able and downloadable in bulk, providing the public with an easy way to access and use the information.

The data is available in many formats, such as XML, JSON and CSV, making it easy to integrate into existing systems and processes. The data also includes a variety of fields such as legal name, address, and the names of ultimate parents and subsidiaries, providing a complete picture of the legal entity and its relationships with other entities.
